What an achievement. How will you ever top that. Im sure you will thnk of something both of you.
Great article in courier. take care and see you back in UK at Easter.
Hi Marc and Felicity,
A very Happy New year - pictures are amazing - hope your journey is still going well - roads in UK especially Forest Grange have ben fun the last week - we’ve had over 16 inches of snow and of course gritters don’t come down our lane - still working party with shovels helped although we still can’t see the surface opf the road - driving out of here and geting back is a real challenge!! Boys had a couple of days extra holiday - but now determination to get on has kicked in! Keep safe.
Jo, K, N and G x
Happy New year. Hope all goes well for your journey home.
Hope you have a nice time over the Festive period. Happy New Year too
Hi Marc & Felicity
Apologies for not contacting earlier but we missed your departure from Malawi. Glad the shelter was finished & we hope the maize project to help fund salaries for Joyce & Augustine is underway. Regrettably we have made no progress with the High Commission re-shipping goods to Nagakama. So far the best price is close to £400 for a shipment so we shall just keep trying. Thanks for the photos. Lyn now has the link established at VHNS & is planning to fundraise next year for the 2 day care centres.Hope you have a safe & happy Krimble. Best wishes from Lyn & Malc.x
glad to see you went to Livingtone Island, not so keen on the bunji jump?? Guess who’s coming to visit me on Thursday? rosie!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck on the next leg of your journey. See you at Christmas time I hope. love Mum
We saw your landy (nice rig) in the carpark at Club Mac and got your website.
Thanks for the game of volleyball.
And by the way… Is hitting the net really in??
Hope to see you guys again!!
Welcome back into the land of the living. Im sorry you had such a bad experience on the Zim border. It will probably stay with you for the rest of your life and not many people will be able to match that. I hope you enjoy your stay in Malawi and get to grips with the wounds clinic.
Not sure when you will read this but just wanted to say Happy Birthday for 15th Felicity and have a brilliant time with your family when you meet up with them. Hope Hilda is not getting up to mischief !
Anne, Bruce, Harry and family
Well done Marc and Felicity - you have my sincere congratulations on such a fabulous trip. I think it is safe to say you must be capable of anything now with all those border posts to get across. We are planning to move out to CT next Jan. I hear your Mum has got a fabulous job in Tanzania.
Love & best wishes
Graham & Anne
What an achievement and I have enjoyed reading the diary and photos as you have travelled down. It has kept me in touch over the 6 months. You should be very proud - I am- but then I am probably biased!!!
We have just been talking about Bull elephants and their size. We have decided that we could fit only 1 in our classroom. Now we have to get on with our practice exam paper. Not as exciting as travelling through Africa. Well done for getting down through Africa in one piece.
Hi, great to hear you too have made it to the end of Africa. You can find us at Chapmans Peak Caravan Farm for the next couple of days, and there is a good pub nearby!
Hope to see you soon & hear all your stories XX
Well done both of you make sure you have a nice meal in Camps Bay one of my favourite places in the whole world to eat. Your trip put mine to shame and I thought I’d been around a bit…………..

Hi you two!
Apologies for the late birthday wishes, but hope it was a good one Marc.Have spoken with Greg who is still raving about the excellent time spent there. The pictures & blog are well up to the usual high standard - though bull heffalumps seem to be moody gits!
Let us know if you think there is a link with one of your projects you feel appropriate for Lyn’s pre-school nursery (2-4 year olds) as she would love to consider doing something.

Lets hope that things will be easier for a while now. Gorillas and white water rafting seem to have made up for some of the harder days travelling over the last few weeks. Glad you had time to visit school in Uganda that you ran Marathon for and that the nursery is finished. Pictures of children look great. take care. cherry
hope you are having a good time. from Kristofor
Pictures are great and the diary an education, Kris has told everyone in school about it all. Wishing you all the best. Take care.
We haven’t updated the diary for a while, because the internet was too slow in Ethiopia.
We are in Kenya now; loved Ethipia and will be adding the latest diary soon.
hey, got some old cricket equipment hopefully can give to Mrs Crouch soon to help all those kids in Africa
No sorry Sudan seems to have detatched itself from the other countries in diary sction and put itself as the only country in ‘countires visited’ bu Hildas blog.
Sudan seems to have disappeared from your list of countries. Good thing I had read it and downloaded it before it went. Im doing my presentation to the whole school on Wednesday. A good section on Hilda and all her friends and you may be hearing from some of the pupils at school on her blog soon. We have a mascot also from ikea - the elephant. There is competition to name it and then they can converse. Will try and send a picture to go with yours of hilda. Let us know when you drop off any of the boots.
We arre doing fine. Really enjoying Ethiopia, in Gondar now. Internet very slow. We will be updating diary in next couple of days.
Hey Hilda, looks like your having a good time, hope Felicity and Marc are behaving themselves. Wish I could come and have an adventure with you - it looks like fun. Good to see Bobs being a good boy and not playing up too much. Hopefully meet you oneday. Keep safe, bye bye.
Hey Gorgeous (and Felicity!)…
Just been catching up on your diary entries and photos…it just looks amazing, I’m so pleased it’s going well and you’re having fun. Things here are manic as ever so am incredibly jealous, I may start looking at jeeps (don’t worry, this won’t last, I’ll be back to looking at shoes and bags tomorrow).
Keep taking care of yourselves and keep in touch.
Love you lots xxx
Thanks for all the comments. We are sat overlooking the Nile now in Aswan. We have really enjoyed Egypt.
Ferry to Sudan tomorrow, takes about 17 to 24 hours, depending on when it leaves. Then the car pitches up in Sudan about a day later….. we will be relieved to see it coming down the river (hopefully still on a ferry!!).
Hey both of you, it looks like your having a wicked time, your photos look amazing. Really looking forward to seeing you meeting bob of course :o) see you both in Tanzania!!
Looks like you’re having a fantastic time! lots of love! x
I bet the sound and light show hadnt changed in 22 years. Restaurant above the stables - very upmarket. I had to be content with egyptian tea brewed on the primus stove they had at the Stables. Did they remember my horse ‘Shankle’ and marcs horse ‘rag and bone’. Have a good trip to Aswan.Love Cherry
Very envious. Looking out of study window. Pi..ing with pluvius, no longer in sunny Portugal, it’s 4pm & haven’t had a vino tinto yet!

Hi Felicity - I have just spoken to your parents and been onto your website ! What an amazing trip! Our son Phil was doing the Home to Rome this past week and was in Pisa the same day as you were there! I must ask him if he caught sight of ‘Bob’ whilst he was there. Good luck with the trip and I shall look forward to following your progress - much love Rosemary
Welcome to Africa. Good luck over the next few weeks. Boys at school watching your trip and they will be writing to Hilda whn she has her own blog.
Hi Marc and Felicity Journey sounds great - hope Bob has got over his fatigue he has my sympathy look forward to hearing more about your journey - love Jo
is that a dent on the nearside wing already!!!
and, don’t forget to change the oil…into what though?
Don’t know whether the oil leak was fixed but either way you MUST check the transfer box regularly and top it up with EP120 or 140 oil, once you are over the other side of the Med it will only cost coppers to have it checked and topped up. Also change the engine oil at least every 5000K and even shorter periods won’t do any harm, it matter not what oil is used BUT IT MUST BE CHANGED REGULARLY and the filter changed every twice or third time it cheap engineering and all you have to do to get to your destination FAIL TO DO THAT AND YOU’LL BE FLYING HOME REAL SOON…………………
That’s it, Enjoy
Safe travel. Look forward to following you on your adventure.
Lots of love x x
hiya, very interested in following your adventure, im keen to do somethibg similar in my camel 110. How long have you planned it to take to get to south africa, and are you driving back or shipping your car.

Am following your trip with interest - it must be so much fun. The photos are great.
I have sent your website to Adam (remember our youngest son?) and Matthew (our oldest, whom you met when all very young -you probably don’t remember him). Don’t know if they’ll comment, but I am sure they will be interested in your adventure. Take care.
Thanks for the kind comments.
